This group aims to promote the use of OpenFoam for general CFD applications, e.g Aerospace, Automobile, Ventilation, Electronic cooling, hydrodynamics(free surface) etc.We also hope to organize a OpeFoam Workshop here in Singapore in 2014.

This is a special interest group created initially on the 7th OpenFOAM® Workshop in Darmstadt to discuss:- HPC Installation/Compilation/Configuration of OF in HPC environments - Scalability using OF and its tools on large systems - Availability of large test cases to verify such large system installations or other HPC related advances in OF

This group will focus in developing an All-Speed or Mach-uniform multiphase themofludic code using OpenFOAM® as its platform technology. Such development work has been ongoing for a couple of years but now with independence and special focus for Lean Premixed and Prevaporised (LPP) Gas Turbine combustion application.The code utilises a modified 8-equation Saurel-Abgrall (1999) multi-phase and multi-fluid model with a hybrid density-pressure based solver as in Xisto et al (2011).Improvements to attain more accurate EOS to capture some flow features such as flash evaporation of multicomponent fuels (JP8) is underway. A more challenging issue of predicting primary atomisation will be considered soon.

The working group is interested in the development of approximate Riemann solvers for Hyperbolic Conservation Laws. Riemann solver is a numerical method used to solve a Riemann problem. They are heavily used in computational fluid dynamics and computational magnetohydrodynamics.

Es ist beschlossen worden, einen Stammtisch United im nächsten Jahr wieder stattfinden zu lassen.Eine Anbindung an ProcessNet wird weiterhin favorisiert und kann bei besserer 'Vermarktung' des Stammtisches zu einer größeren Teilnehmerzahl führen.Ein Turnus von 1x/Jahr für den Stammtisch United wurde von allen befürwortet.Form und Art der Veranstaltung wird beibehalten wie bei allen Stammtischen.In dieser Gruppe soll alles rund um diesen jährlichen Stammtisch diskutiert werden.

The LTFD research group is situated at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The group interest is on CFD code development using OpenFOAM® core. The development of codes follow the main LTFD research areas: Multiphase Flow, Population Balance & CFD, Viscoelastic Fluid Flow, High Performance Computing.

The working group focuses on the development of a robust and versatile multiphase solve based on the Euler-Euler multi-fluid approach.Current applications of interest are the simulation of bubble columns and dense gas-particle flows, with granular phases described by means of the kinetic theory approach and frictional models.Starting point of the development is the existing twoPhaseEulerFoam solver, which will be modified to improve its robustness and then generalized to deal with an arbitrary number of dispersed phases. Further development will include the addition of quadrature-based methods to deal with particle/bubble size distribution.

The founding of this group was discussed and decided on the OpenFOAM® Stammtisch Germany 'Mitte' on September 24th, 2010, in the 'hybrid RANS/LES' bof session.The aim of this working group is to get users and developers interested in Detached-Eddy Simulation (DES) together and achieve a correct DES implementation in OpenFOAM® and a common understanding of the method.Furthermore, the already established contacts, working groups and results required a common platform to be able to focus on our goals.Finally, testcases, best-practice guidelines and an improved documentation are needed.
