Dear all,

what is your main tool for "visually" post processing OpenFOAM® results? Here I think about generating colorful animations, movies, pictures, cuts, line plots....

We use a mixture of paraview and gnuplot or xmgrace for post processing. For generating movies I think, however, that with paraview you cannot completely save everything like views and history. Thus, there is still some work to be done.

Best regards, Ulf.

We use Paraview, too and are happy with most of it. However usability could be better.

Hi Ulf,

I mainly use paraview for colour plots, and gnuplot and/or python (using matplotlib) for line plots. I have had some, but only limited, success saving views in paraview as state files.
I generally generate flash animations from png frames (from paraview). I prefer swf files as it is easier to add individual frame stepping to step frame-by-frame through an animation (which is sometimes useful). I generate swf animations using swftools (www.swftools.org/).

Regards,

Paul.

Mainly paraview and gnuplot, but sometimes also Tecplot because scripting / batch processing is easier and it makes nicer images in my opinion.

There is a good tool called Mayavi2 for visualisation. It is free and open source. It is mainly written in python and developed by Enthought.
