| Release politics or how to use updates 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago | Karma: 0 | Dear Foamers, in the last days I made some perfomance tests on HLRN (Supercomputer in northern Germany). I used a 3D mesh (turbomachinery, pump, 1.6 million cells). I tried to analyze the scalability. The Optimum are 4 or 5 cores. More cores make the simulation slower. (pimpleDyMFoam; GGI). But now I read on sourceforge the summary for extend and 1.6-ext. There are many changes. For example, some improvements for turbomachinery (GGI!). My OF-1.6 Installation was made in april/may, therefore I guess it isn't actual anymore. When will the next version be released? How can I use the improvements from Professor Jasak and others? Making a new installation? Simply replacing old files by the new ones from git? It is possible for me to let my installation change (at university) but unfortunately not on the HLRN. I could use so much cores, but it's worthless. What's your advice? Best regards, chris |
