TOPIC: Total Pressure BC

Total Pressure BC 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I was trying to find a total pressure BC, where I can define a direction for the inlet velocity.

To make it more difficult, I'd need to define a function that can change this direction depending on the position of the inlet's faces (cylinder-->turbine inlet, incident angle --> groovyBC...).

And to make it even more difficult I'd like to use this BC with an SRF solver. Meaning that the calculated absolute velocity (from ptot) has to be transormed to a relative velocity.

Has anyone of you already implemented such a BC or a similar one? If so, I'd really be glad if you could share it. It would save me a whole lot of time.

Cheers,
Michi

It's not clear to me, what you mean with: "I'd need to define a function that can change this direction depending on the position of the inlet's faces"

But I have implemented some inlet boundary conditions, maybe you'll have a look at it:

Hi Oliver,

thanks for your reply. I need to implement a function for the inlet velocity direction for a totalPressure BC on a conus/cylinder. In my case this direction is defined by the Alpha angle of stay vanes. So I'm implementing now a BC called pressureAlphaAngleDirectedVelocity for both rotating and absolute frames of reference.
I originally thought that I could use the groovy BC (therefore -> function).

So my BC combinations will be:

pressureAlphaAngleDirectedVelocity + totalPressure

relativePressureAlphaAngleDirectedVelocity + relativeTotalPressure

or maybe I'll combine both...
