Description	The Institute for Mechanics and Fluiddynamics has currently five professorships (two in the field of fluid mechanics). There are currently 12 PhD students and 3 PostDoc employed. The research area stretches from measuring techniques (PIV, 3D-PTV, wall shear stress sensor) applied to wind turbines, rotating tanks and internal combustion engines to numerical flow studies in material science (silicon, steel, steel-slag, sand castings), bio-medical flows (respiration, sound generation in vocal folds, undulating movements of fishes and swimming movement of human of during dolfin-kick).
